Thank you to anyone and everyone who contributed to arranging for me to receive a medal for volunteering in the New Year Honours list 2017. I have never expected recognition like this or at all. And now I owe you all cake.

You can rest assured this won’t go to my head. When I looked up the full list of honours on the government website, not too far away from my listing were those of two people receiving similar honours for volunteering services to… wait for it… figure-skating and… country dancing. I am so tickled. Awesome. Vive la difference!
